Holidays in a small village in the mountains steeped in history
Radstadt
Radstadt was first given the rights of an administrative town in 1289. Since that time, the town has been through seven centuries of wonderful, world-changing, unforgettable events – you can feel it in the air! During your holiday in Salzburg Province, enjoy a journey back in time. Visit the Radstadt night watchmen or take a look at the town’s three old towers and our two ‘Heimat’ museums. The well-preserved 13th century walls of our home also see countless events: An arts and crafts market, the traditional dumpling festival, the Paul Hofhaimer days, the three-day guard fest, music in town, kids’ day, the Christmas market, ... Let’s celebrate life together. Mountain festivals and street parties, guided tours, Christmas hikes, the Radstadt Krippenweg nativity trail, the weekly market and a colourful programme of events throughout the week – all guarantee a fascinating and diverse holiday.
This town is more than a historical jewel. As a member of the Salzburger Sportwelt region, and located at the heart of the Ski amadé ski resorts association, Radstadt is an ideal starting point for all kinds of sporting and recreational activities on your summer vacation or winter holidays. Seeing the 360° view from the peak of the Rossbrand is an absolute must. This is one of the most beautiful and scenic mountains in the Eastern Alps: Take it easy and go up there by car or with the wander bus, or head up on foot or on the mountain-bike for a sporting challenge. In terms of sport, there is nowhere else like Radstadt in Austria that can boast so many top athletes per capita. Our small town in the mountains is proud – and justified – to call itself the Home of Champions.
